Orion976 Photography

Blame it on my grandfather. He had an SLR kit to be envied. He showed me the basics in the Ashdown Forest. My father had an equally impressive kit. So it became a rite of passage and a matter of time until I acquired my first SLR and began taking photographs in earnest.

Once I started with my Praktica MTL5B and a couple of lenses, there was no stopping me. Adding more filters and lenses, and a couple of basic photography books, gave me the incentive to try and capture those extraordinary images that I marvelled at before me.

Photography gave me the chance to freeze in time precious moments, incredible vistas, little birds feeding from the birdtable in the garden, as well as my father's attempts at playing tennis! It also gave me my first real taste of success and validation at a school where I found it hard to score well at anything. After winning a photo competition at school, I became aware that I might have something. My personality was not what it is now though, and after a disastrous work-experience at a studio in London, I ditched the photography idea.

The love of capturing images never left me though, and the more I kept taking innocent little snapshots, the more I wanted to go further again. July of 2008, I took the plunge to enter the world of DSLR photography.

I've packed quite a bit into a short space of time, not wishing to lose any more time than I already have, but I can happily say that I've been involved in all sorts of interesting projects that have helped my photography skills and artistic levels increase dramatically.

I hope you enjoy having a look at a very small sample of images that I have been working on since joining the 'digital revolution' in photography!
